What is
There’s a lot of news and reporting and hype about AI, but not enough asking the most important question: “Does this matter?” So that’s my goal: to provide practical, efficient insights to what matters in the rapidly evolving world of AI. Particularly for what I believe will be the most important commercial use of AI in the short term: accurate generative AI on factual content in the workplace.
Here’s what that means in simple terms:
- generative AI (AI that creates new content, i.e. LLMs and its kin)
- for factual use cases (where there is a right and wrong answer)
- in the workplace (on content internal to your business, stuff that the model knows nothing about because it wasn’t part of its training data)
- that is accurate (reliable and trustworthy enough to be used for real work)

I’ve been working in tech, data, and AI for over 30 years, applying technology to solve business problems. I think AI will be the most consequential technological accomplishment of mankind, and find it fascinating, exciting, and at times, terrifying. That certainly makes for a fun topic to write about!
I’m a husband to an amazing wife, father of four incredible kids, and elder in my church. I’m an incurable engineer and science nerd who is both fascinated by and concerned about how technology shapes humanity.
